Former Indian batsman, Mohammad Kaif, won his fourth (out of five) ‘Man of the Match’ award against Bangladesh in the first match of India’s tour of Bangladesh in 2004 at Chittagong.
Habibul Bashar, the then Bangladeshi captain, had won the toss and chose to field. India were handed a blow in the first over itself in the form of Sourav Ganguly (0). Kaif was the highest run-scorer for India, scoring 80 (111), with the help of seven fours.
Chasing 246 runs from 50 overs, Bangladesh ended up scoring 234-8 in 50 overs. With bowling figures of 9-0-43-3, S Sriram was the pick of the bowlers for India.
Apparently, this was also the match where former captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, made his ODI debut.
