The young Australian fast bowler, Kane Richardson will be returning back to Australia from the on-going tour of India as he has been ruled out of the squad due to injury. Cricket Australia confirmed that Richardson, who picked up a side injury while batting in the nets ahead of the first T20I, will be replaced by Andrew Tye.

Richardson did train at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore ahead of the second and final T20I, but only managed to bowl a few deliveries before leaving the nets.

Describing his condition, the Australian team physio David Beakley said, “Kane reported some left side pain at training prior to the opening T20I in Vizag. Unfortunately, he has not recovered well enough in order to play a further part in the tour. Kane will return home to continue his rehabilitation, and we (will) monitor his progress over the coming weeks.”

Tye, who has played only seven ODIs in his career so far has conceded 100 runs in 9 overs in his last game against England when the English team had amassed 481 runs in an ODI. He will be coming into the India series after playing some good cricket in the BBL where he claimed 17 wickets in 14 games for the Perth Scorchers.

With Richardson’s injury, Australia are now left with only four specialist fast bowlers in the squad, Pat Cummins, Jhye Richardson, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behrendorff, ahead of the final T20I.

Australia, at the moment, is gearing up for the second and final T20I against India in Bengaluru. They are leading the two-match series by 1-0 and would be looking to win their maiden T20I series in the country. They have never won a T20I series in India.
