New Zealand white-ball captain Kane Williamson injured his knee on the very first match of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. While trying to save a six, the cricketer fell awkwardly and hurt his knee as well, which eventually ruled him out of the entire competition. Meanwhile, he is likely to miss the upcoming ODI World Cup but he is putting in a lot of effort to recover faster and hit the ground running in order to make it to the world cup squad as well.
While talking about his progress, the veteran said that his primary goal at the moment is to allow his knee to heal completely as well. He also uploaded a video of him training in the gym and added that he is not 100% fit at the moment but he is expecting to be back in the nets any time soon.

“Very much just trying to keep it week-to-week at the moment. I haven’t had such a long-term injury before but talking to other people that have, the journey is a bit of a long one so if you look too far ahead it probably can become a little bit daunting. Whereas, one week at a time, ticking off those small markers, those little wins that are nice to experience. But also knowing that the journey won’t be completely smooth and you have a few setbacks along the way that you have to navigate,” Kane Williamson said on Monday.

“Probably more for sanity and changing things up … just nice to mix up all the gym work and the physio work and rehab specific stuff to spend a bit of time with some of the other guys that are training. I’ll be out for a little while but super keen to get back in the nets, for sure,” Kane Williamson concluded.
