Kane Williamson provided a significant update regarding David Miller’s injury, which sidelined him from the clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat’s new captain, Shubman Gill, announced at the toss that Miller would miss the match due to a niggle, with Williamson stepping in as his replacement in the playing XI.
Punjab, led by Shikhar Dhawan, opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Williamson, batting at No. 3, contributed a quickfire 26 off 22 balls. Thanks to Shubman’s stellar unbeaten knock of 89 off 48 balls, featuring six fours and four sixes, the Titans posted a formidable total of 199/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Praising Shubman’s exceptional innings, Williamson hailed the young player’s talent, describing him as a fantastic player.
In pursuit of the 200-run target, Punjab made a solid start, reaching 13/0 in the first over. However, Umesh Yadav struck early in the second over, dismissing the dependable Dhawan. Despite promising starts from Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh, both failed to convert them into substantial scores.

Despite the Titans’ efforts to consistently take wickets and put pressure on the Kings, the away team maintained a healthy run rate throughout their innings. Shashank Singh’s unbeaten 61 off 29 balls, supported by Ashutosh Sharma’s handy cameo of 31 runs off 17 balls, guided Punjab to a thrilling victory with three wickets and a ball to spare.
