India and Bangladesh are gearing up for the second and final Test of their two-match series, set to take place at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from Friday, 29th September. With India leading the series 1-0 after a dominant 280-run victory in the first Test, all eyes are on this upcoming match. However, the build-up to the game has been clouded by a security issue that has raised concerns.
A group of 20 members from the Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha staged a protest near the stadium, conducting a ‘havan’ on the road to bring attention to what they described as atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh.
The protest created tension around the venue, prompting swift action from the local authorities. An FIR has been lodged against the protestors, and the police have moved quickly to ensure that the situation is under control. Kanpur’s Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Harish Chander, assured that security arrangements are being thoroughly reviewed.

He emphasized that an additional police force would be deployed to ensure the safety of both teams and spectators. “We are leaving no stone unturned in our security preparations. We’re confident of having an adequate police force on hand to meet any situation,” Harish Chander said in a statement to PTI.

Security agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and state intelligence units, are actively sharing information and collaborating to identify any potential threats. To further enhance security, the Kanpur stadium and the teams’ hotel have been divided into sectors, zones, and sub-zones.
These areas will be overseen by high-ranking officers, including DCPs and ACPs, to ensure a smooth and safe environment for the match. DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh, appointed as the nodal officer for the event, confirmed that traffic diversions would also be in place for added safety.
