The Indian cricket team failed to level the ongoing five-match Test series against England in Southampton after trailing 1-2 before that as they ended up conceding an unassailable lead of 1-3 to the hosts. Until the third session of day 2, the match was in complete control of India but after the batting collapse in the post-tea session and the lower-order contributing heavily to the hosts cost India the game. This has been happening for the Indian team as they come close to win the game but give it away in the crucial moments. Analyzing the same, India’s world-cup winning skipper Kapil Dev suggested Team India learn from their mistakes. 

Virat Kohli, the skipper, is the only Indian batsman who has looked confident in front of the English bowlers as he has amassed 544 runs in eight innings so far. But he didn’t get much of a support from any of the other teammates big time barring Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. The collective batting failure led to the team failing to chase down a modest total of 245 after being comfortably placed at 123/3 at one stage.

However, Kapil feels that Team India is doing the same mistakes repeatedly and it was important for them to realize the same and work on it. As quoted in News18, he said, “I think you have to learn from your mistakes and the only way you can become the best team that you don’t make mistakes more often.”

The legendary all-rounder also pointed out that there were a plethora of times when Team India had the game in their hands but they let it slip it away every now and then. He said, “In this series also if you look back at the four Test matches you will see, a lot of time you were close to finishing the Test match. But you have given them a chance to bounce back.”
