Karun Nair showcased his brilliance with a remarkable one-handed catch in the slip cordon, dismissing Colin Ingram during the Northamptonshire versus Glamorgan clash in the 2024 County Championship Division 2 at Wantage Road. Returning to Northamptonshire for the 2024 season after being overlooked in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), the 32-year-old Indian batsman made an instant impact.

Last summer, Nair left a lasting impression in Northamptonshire colors, delivering a half-century on debut against Warwickshire and an impressive 150 against Surrey at the Kia Oval.

Despite joining the team late in the season, his contributions were pivotal, especially in the final three matches of Division 1, even as the team faced relegation to Division 2.

During his brief stint, Nair’s batting prowess shone through, amassing a total of 249 runs across three innings, with scores of 78, 150, and 21, averaging an impressive 83.00. While his international career with the Indian team was brief, featuring six Tests and two ODIs, Nair etched his name in cricket history with a monumental unbeaten 303 against England in Chennai back in 2016.

This innings, where he became only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to score a triple hundred in a Test match, remains the highlight of his career. Nair’s return to Northamptonshire signifies his commitment to excel in the county circuit, showcasing his talent and hunger for success beyond the glitz and glamour of T20 cricket.
