Kedar Jadhav, despite not being a regular part of the Indian cricket team anymore, continues to have a burning desire to excel in the game. Once a prominent figure in India’s limited-overs setup, Jadhav faced a two-year hiatus before making a triumphant comeback in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23. Impressive performances, including a couple of fifties and a blistering century, caught the attention of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who signed him for the latter stages of IPL 2023.

Currently leading the Kolhapur Tuskers in the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), Jadhav showcased his batting prowess by smashing a remarkable 85 runs against the Solapur Royals as an opening batsman. From being one of India’s most prolific middle-order batsmen to scoring runs for Maharashtra in the domestic circuit as an opener, Jadhav has experienced it all. However, when it comes to his return to the national team, he remains unfazed.

In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Jadhav emphasized that his primary focus is to score runs consistently, irrespective of the position he plays in. He believes that if he enjoys his game and performs consistently, the results will speak for themselves. Jadhav acknowledges that the selectors have the final say in his comeback, and he leaves the decision in their hands.

“Expectations only lead to disappointments. What I’m currently doing is enjoying my game. And I know if I enjoy every day and score runs consistently, results will be seen soon. My job is to just perform every day and in every single tournament that I am part of. Then it is up to the selectors to decide if I’m fit enough. It’s their call and not in my hands,” Kedar Jadhav shared with Hindustan Times.

Reflecting on his return to the IPL after a two-year absence, Jadhav expressed his delight at rejoining the RCB camp. He observed that the team environment was more relaxed compared to his previous stint with the franchise.

“Yes, it was a very short stay. I joined for half the season. But yes, it was a wonderful experience. I was so happy to play alongside Virat and Faf again after so many years. With Faf, I was at CSK, and with Kohli for the Indian team. So yes, it is always good to be part of the mix. RCB is also one of my favorite teams,” Kedar Jadhav remarked.

He also praised the support staff for creating a more relaxed and organized atmosphere within the team. Jadhav noted that the players were given clear roles and appreciated the team’s overall cohesion.

“The atmosphere was more relaxed compared to the last time I was here. Credit must go to the support staff. They handled the team really well. Players were given clarity on their roles. I think it looked more organized and a settled unit,” Kedar Jadhav concluded.
