Left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar has been making waves in the ongoing Indian Premier League with his exceptional performances. In Punjab Kings’ opening match against Delhi Capitals, the 28-year-old cricketer displayed his prowess by conceding just 14 runs in three overs and claiming a crucial wicket. In the subsequent match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Brar further showcased his skills, giving away only 13 runs in four overs while scalping two important wickets, including those of Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell.
His remarkable performance didn’t go unnoticed, with former cricketer Kevin Pietersen praising Brar’s talent and advocating for his inclusion in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Pietersen expressed his admiration for the IPL’s role in providing opportunities for domestic players and congratulated Virat Kohli on his consistent performances in the tournament.

Reflecting on his game plan, Brar revealed that his objective was to bowl as many dot deliveries as possible to build pressure on the opposition batsmen. His economical bowling played a pivotal role in Punjab Kings’ resurgence during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Despite their strong comeback, Punjab Kings fell short of victory as Dinesh Karthik’s heroics sealed the win for the hosts.

Brar emphasized the importance of bowling at the right lengths in T20 cricket and shared his strategy of targeting areas outside the batsmen’s hitting arc. He credited the pitch conditions in Bengaluru for assisting his bowling efforts and acknowledged the challenges posed by the opposition batsmen.
“I tried to dry up the runs as much as possible and I picked up two wickets in the process as well. I was trying to bowl as many dot balls as possible to create pressure on the batters. The dot balls give you wickets in the end,” Harpreet Brar explained.
