A classy act from MI New York skipper Kieron Pollard has won hearts of all during the thrilling Major League Cricket 2024 game in the USA. Cricket fever has gripped the nation as the 19th match of the season saw the LA Knight Riders take on the MI New York. Amidst all that action on the field, this off-field act by Pollard turned out to be the real showstopper.

A big six went into the stands, and with that powerful shot, Pollard hit a fan. He then did the decent thing – he checked up on her during the post-match presentation and even spent some time meeting her personally.

The fan, who was in the stadium dressed to support MI New York, was holding up the team’s flag when she was accidentally hit on the back by the powerful six which Pollard hit. Showing true sportsmanship, Pollard went up to her, apologized, and signed an autograph, took a selfie with the woman and her husband. The nice gesture was captured on video and went viral on social media within minutes.

 

“I humbly apologize. This is the least I can do,” Kieron Pollard said as he met the fan. He also interacted with her husband, reminding him to take care of her and fulfill his duties as a husband. “I am sorry. Take care of her, okay? Do what a man needs to do,” Pollard added, showing his genuine concern and empathy.

It was Pollard’s leadership on the field that led MI New York into the playoffs in the Major League Cricket 2024. The defending champions finally registered a win against the LA Knight Riders by four wickets in Dallas on Sunday, July 21. Chasing a target of 131 runs, they won the game with three overs to spare, courtesy of an unbeaten knock by Pollard, 33 runs off just 12 balls, with three sixes and two fours.

MI New York is now set to face the Texas Super Kings in the Eliminator game on Wednesday.
