Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) enjoyed a memorable night after their commanding seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, a result that was followed by cheerful scenes at the team hotel. The victory was a complete team effort and a strong response to their earlier defeat against SRH this season.

KKR’s spin attack once again proved decisive, with Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy tightening the screws in the middle overs. Later, young Angkrish Raghuvanshi showed maturity beyond his years, guiding the chase with a well-crafted half-century.

The post-match celebrations, however, added an extra layer of charm to the night. Back at the hotel, the KKR squad surprised Andre Russell with a belated birthday cake-cutting moment, which quickly turned into a light-hearted cake-smearing prank. Narine led the fun, while head coach Abhishek Nayar held Russell in place as the rest of the group joined in, making it a moment the team will remember for a long time.

Earlier, SRH had looked set for a massive total after opting to bat. Travis Head blazed away for 61 off 28 balls, and Ishan Kishan contributed 42 as the hosts stormed to 71/1 in the powerplay and crossed 100 inside nine overs. But KKR pulled things back brilliantly.

Varun Chakravarthy returned figures of 3/36, Narine claimed 2/31, and the support from Kartik Tyagi, Cameron Green, Vaibhav Arora and Anukul Roy helped restrict SRH to 165 after they were cruising at 105/1. In reply, KKR chased down the target with confidence. Finn Allen gave early momentum with 29, while Ajinkya Rahane (43) and Raghuvanshi (59) added 84 runs to put the match beyond SRH’s reach.
