India batsman KL Rahul has applauded his former captain, MS Dhoni, citing that he has learnt a lot from him. And, while giving examples, he said that he learnt the importance of staying humble by watching Dhoni, how he carries himself on and off the field. Rahul further added that MS Dhoni would not think twice before putting his country ahead of himself as well.
Notably, KL Rahul has made his debut under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. While Rahul earned his Test cap during Dhoni’s final series as captain, he played a lot of limited-overs cricket from 2016 to 17 under Dhoni’s leadership.
“Something I have learned from him is how humble he has been through ups and downs, how he has put his country ahead of everything is just unbelievable,” Rahul said to Forbes.

However, MS Dhoni is one of the most decorated captains that India has ever got. He is the only captain to have won all the ICC Trophies – T20 World Cup in the inaugural edition in 2007, 50-over World Cup in 2011 and then the Champions Trophy in 2013 as well. Apart from that, he is one of the most successful captains in the Indian Premier League too. And, the most celebrated captain has retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020.
And, KL Rahul is aware of the fact what MS Dhoni has done for the country but the flamboyant batsman has said Dhoni’s biggest achievement is the respect he earned from his fellow players as well.

“Yes, he has won a lot of tournaments, done amazing things for the country but I think the biggest achievement that as captain you can have is the respect of your teammates and any of us would take a bullet for him without a second thought. The minute anybody says captain, the first name that comes to mind from our era will be MS Dhoni. We have all played under him,” KL Rahul expressed.
However, MS Dhoni will next be seen leading Chennai Super Kings in the remainder of IPL 2021, which will resume in September-October in the UAE after it was suspended in India in May owing to Covid-19.
