Punjab Kings secured a nail-biting win in the final ball of the innings against Rajasthan Royals and a relieved captain KL Rahul has said to his teammates to bat fearlessly just like Deepak Hooda whose onslaught was a treat to watch in the game. Hooda smacked 64 runs off 28 balls which helped the team put up a mammoth 221-run on the board after the allotted 20 overs.

KL Rahul too has smashed 91 off 50 deliveries and he breathed a sigh of relief after Sanju Samson’s stunning hundred failed to get Rajasthan Royals past the finish line.

“Deepak Hooda’s innings was amazing. That’s the kind of batting we want to see as a team. We want to bat fearlessly and take down bowlers. We have a lot of power in our line-up but we have been slightly tentative. It is important for us to bat fearlessly. It is great to see boys trying to understand what we expect,” said Rahul after the match.

While he applauded his batsmen for putting up a great show, he did mention that the bowlers were a bit inconsistent in the game and they were struggling with their line and lengths. He also said that the bowling unit needs to pull up their socks for the upcoming games.

“Heart rate was high but I didn’t stop believing. We knew a couple of wickets would bring us back. Till the first 10-11 overs, we bowled well. It was close because we dropped a few sitters, including me. We batted really well and bowled well in patches. We weren’t consistent with the lengths but the bowlers will learn,” he further added.

“It’s a young team, some new boys, the boys are talented and skillful, so we need to back them,” shared Rahul.

However, the captain had nothing but to praise his counterpart’s blistering century (119 off 63, 12fours and 7 sixes). He also acknowledged that it is always hard to bowl against Sanju Samson, who was absolutely amazing yesterday.

“When you’re bowling against Sanju, it’s difficult,” KL Rahul concluded.
