In the midst of the high-octane clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants, tensions ran high as LSG captain KL Rahul engaged in a heated exchange with the on-field umpire. The contentious call that sparked the debate occurred on the final ball of the innings, leaving the skipper visibly dissatisfied.

As the clock ticked towards the end of the 20th over, the stage was set for a dramatic finish. SRH’s Pat Cummins delivered a high full toss outside off to Nicholas Pooran, who swiftly sliced it towards sweeper cover. The ball soared, seemingly destined for a six, until Nitish Reddy intervened with a spectacular effort at the boundary.

Reddy’s acrobatic leap and precise timing allowed him to grab the ball mid-air, but as he tumbled towards the boundary cushion, controversy ensued. While attempting to release the ball before landing beyond the rope, Reddy’s effort fell short, leading to the ball brushing against the boundary cushion.

The umpires’ verdict, a boundary, drew immediate protest from Rahul, who vehemently argued for the decision to be overturned in favor of a six. His frustration spilled over into the subsequent innings, where he continued to express his discontent with the call.

Despite the contentious call, LSG managed to post a competitive total of 165 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. After a shaky start that saw them at 66 for 4 in the 12th over, a resilient partnership between Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran bolstered their innings. Badoni’s gritty knock of 55, combined with Pooran’s explosive 48, provided LSG with a platform for a spirited fightback.
