Teams in international cricket have often struggled with effectively using the Decision Review System (DRS), but India has found a reliable figure in KL Rahul, who is reminiscent of the legendary MS Dhoni when it comes to accurate judgments from behind the stumps. In their final Asia Cup encounter against Bangladesh at the R Premadasa Stadium, India had their opponent reeling at 59/4, thanks to some brilliant bowling.
However, Bangladesh’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy fought back valiantly, forming a resilient partnership. At the time, they had already completed a century stand and were steadily gaining momentum, frustrating the Indian bowlers. Despite the growing pressure, the Men in Blue remained composed, and wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul played a crucial role in maintaining their cool.

In the 25th over, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a delivery that sharply turned into the left-handed Shakib. The ball hit Shakib’s thigh, leading to a loud appeal from the Indian fielders. While the umpire remained unmoved, both Jadeja and captain Rohit Sharma showed interest in reviewing the decision.
However, Rahul calmly offered his perspective, convincing them not to go for the review. Subsequent replays revealed that both the impact and striking point with the stumps were in the umpire’s call zone, vindicating Rahul’s judgment.

Since returning from injury and regaining the wicket-keeping duties for the Men in Blue in the ongoing Asia Cup, Rahul has consistently demonstrated his prowess in handling the DRS system. KL Rahul’s composure and accuracy behind the stumps have provided India with a valuable asset in the DRS department, ensuring that they make well-informed decisions in crucial moments of the game, much like their former captain, Dhoni.

KL Rahul as a WK for DRS has been fabulous so far, to deny somebody like a Jadeja is really commendable! https://t.co/QEZDUGJnTI

Every match he’s dropping a catch and if that’s the definition of being brilliant, keep running agenda till he does a blunder in the important match.
