The flamboyant Indian opener KL Rahul has been expected to become the next big thing in the Indian cricket. He is supremely talented and he gave the testimony for the same during the final Test against England recently and also in the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year. Though he had a poor outing in the first four games of the Test series, Rahul ended it with a memorable knock. However, he feels that one has to be mentally strong to be successful at the highest level.

Rahul is currently with the Indian team in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) participating in the ongoing Asia Cup. But he is yet to feature in the playing XI as all the batsmen doing extremely well and the Men in Blue are on a winning spree. Ahead of the competition, he was expected to be Virat Kohli’s place at no.3, but the team management favored Ambati Rayudu in that position who has fared decently so far.

As far as KL Rahul’s international career is concerned, he is yet to cement his spot in the team across the formats. He has the talent and he has been used as a floater till date mainly because of the fact that he is lacking in consistency. However, the batsman is well aware of the fact and wants to be in the correct frame of mind in each game.

Team India will be touring down under in November and Rahul is looking forward to playing in Australia, where he made his internal debut as well. He wants to play well in the home series against Windies first and then carry the momentum Down Under. He said, “Australia is definitely going to be a big challenge, a great opportunity for us to showcase our skills. The Australian bowling attack is really very good, and in their home conditions, they definitely know how to challenge the opposition. But, we are really looking forward to it. We still have a lot of time before the Australian series starts; we are looking to play good cricket in the coming one or two months and carry that momentum into Australian series.”
