The stand-in Indian ODI captain, KL Rahul said on Friday opined that the ODI series loss against South Africa in the rainbow nation will be good learning for the men in blue. The stand-in captain conceded that India have been making too many mistakes but stressed that India, a team that takes pride in winning, will be eyeing to make a strong comeback. His comments came after India were hammered by 7 runs in the 2nd ODI of a 3-match series in South Africa.
Team India lost the three-match series to South Africa after two ordinary performances in Paarl. Talking about the same, as per the quotes in India Today, KL Rahul said, “I think they are playing some really good cricket at home, we are making mistakes as well in the middle. It’s good learning for us. We are a team that takes a lot of pride in winning, but a good learning for us and hopefully we can grow. We are trying to get better at things we haven’t done well in the past.”

Questions were asked if India lacked a bit of energy on the field in the ODI series as they looked deflated when South Africa batters were making merry in Paarl. However, Rahul played down concerns, saying the Indian team to stay energized despite the hot weather in the South African city.
KL Rahul elaborated, “The energy has been great, it’s been tough on the body staying in the bubbles. We love challenges and we have come short in the first 2 games, we will look ahead to the third game and try and win that one.”
Meanwhile, KL Rahul pointed out that there were positive despite India losing the ODI series, highlighting Rishabh Pant’s matured knock of 85 in the 2nd ODI.

Explaining the same, KL Rahul said, “The way Shikhar and Virat batted in the first game was very good, and today Rishabh batted, the way he managed the first 20 balls and then he took down the spinners. He is a really important member of the team and Shardul, too, showing us he can bat lower down and make a good contribution. Jasprit has been the standout bowler for us and Yuzi has been good today.”
