South Africa has looked in good control of the game on the second day of the ongoing 2nd Test against India. In the opening half an hour, India under the captaincy of KL Rahul conceded just 14 runs in 7 overs but the hosts eventually geared up their innings. Keegan Petersen and Dean Elgar held the fort of the hosts and played the Indian fast bowlers with utmost control.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj toiled hard but weren’t able to reap any rewards. It was Shardul Thakur who chimed in with the first wicket of the day as Elgar edged the ball to the wicketkeeper after playing a gritty knock of 28. However, amidst the ongoing match, it often happens that the on-lookers are intrigued by the chat amongst cricketers as they get to hear through the stump mic.

A video has been making rounds on the social media platforms wherein KL Rahul can be seen calling Siraj for bowling. The Indian stand-in skipper is heard asking the pacer if he is ready to bowl or wants to wait a tad bit. In the video, he was heard saying, “Miyan aaja. Theek hai, garam hai? Ke chaiye 2 aur over. Bolde.” This has gone on to fascinate the fans wherein they found this quite exciting and funny.

The hosts have so far looked great on the field. For India, Shardul Thakur has been the pick of the bowlers apart from Elgar he scalped three important wickets of Petersen (62), Rassie van der Dussen (1), and keeper batter Kyle Verreynne (21). Petersen had previously hit Shami for three consecutive fours to bring his maiden half-century in Test cricket. He then sent back Temba Bavuma to register his five-wicket haul.

On Day 1 of the Test, KL Rahul who is captaining the team in absence of Virat Kohli hit an impressive fifty to provide some stability to the team’s batting unit. The top order wasn’t able to make a larger impact on the game as the Proteas’ fast bowlers exuded their sheer flair in the match.

However handy contributions from India’s lower middle-order helped the visiting team reach the mark of 202. It will be intriguing to see how the action unfolds further on the second day of the second Test at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.
