He went one step ahead and scored a sparkling century at Lord’s on day one. However, he wasn’t happy after letting an opportunity go of making a big hundred.

“I always get frustrated when I am set and get out. The morning today was crucial and I was just planning to add 70-80 runs in the morning session. I was feeling good, I was set. I am frustrated I missed out on a juicy half volley,” he said during the press conference after day two.

After taking two early wickets, England steady their innings as Rory Burns and Joe Root scored runs at a quick pace. England reached 119/3 at the stumps with Root and Jonny Bairstow in the middle.

“It’s too early to predict. We are taking things as it comes. Our plan will be to take some wickets tomorrow. We have planned for every batsman and we will stick to our plans,” he said.

Rahul got out on the second ball of the day while attempting a cover drive. Ajinkya Rahane followed him soon before Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja scored vital runs to take the Indian total to 364. James Anderson was at his usual best and grabbed another five-wicket haul, 31st of his Test career.
