There is a saying which says that “practice makes a man perfect” and it seems that the Indian skipper, KL Rahul has been struggling to get back in form in overseas Tests this year. He has managed to score just one 50+ score, this year in overseas Tests and it is clear that he will be looking to improve his record. He was seen wearing his complete gear for batting practice few minutes after the conclusion of the first Test between India and Australia at Adelaide.

It was a very close Test match, and at one stage, it was looking that the hosts could’ve stolen the game away from India. They just needed 32 runs to win with the last pair on the crease. Josh Hazelwood tried to drive the ball against the ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin but he just managed to edge it. KL Rahul who has been the safest pair of hands for Team India in the slips made no mistake in grabbing the catch as India won by 31 runs.

This is their first Test win in Australia since 2008 when they won at Perth under the leadership of Anil Kumble. It is also the first time, India has managed to win the first Test of a series in Australia. It was an important win and the celebrations by the players showed how much it meant to them.

Despite the fact that win was a historic won for the visitors, the series has just started and the goal is to win the series. Rahul recognizes that reality of the scenario and hence decided to prepare for the challenges ahead. The opener is certainly not satisfied with his performance in the Adelaide Test and must be hoping to make a bigger contribution to the team. When Prithvi Shaw recovers from his injury he will command a spot in the XI unless Rahul and Murali Vijay both produce match-defining efforts at Perth.

KL Rahul got out cheaply in the first innings of this game. While he gave a good start to his team in the second innings but threw away his wicket when he was looking good. He now needs to convert these starts into big scores if he wants to cement his position in the Indian team. If the opener manages to do that given the talent he possesses, it would be beneficial to the Indian team in their quest to register a series win in Australia.
