In a light-hearted moment after Delhi Capitals’ impressive 25-run win over Chennai Super Kings on April 5, KL Rahul cheekily brought up an old tweet from DC mentor and former England captain Kevin Pietersen. During a post-match interview hosted by Pietersen himself, Rahul reminded him of a time he likened the Indian batter’s style to “watching paint dry on a wall.”

The conversation took a fun turn as Rahul, fresh off a match-winning 77 off 51 balls, grinned and told Kevin Pietersen, “It’s better than watching the paint on the wall dry. That was your tweet about me one day.” Caught off guard but sporting his usual wit, Pietersen laughed and replied, “Did I say that? Well, I’m glad you’ve changed your game.”

Rahul, who was traded to Delhi Capitals from Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 mega auction, seems to be playing with a renewed mindset. Although he missed DC’s opening clash against his former team due to parental leave, he returned with a short but aggressive cameo and has since been in top form.

His knock against CSK was not only fluent but also commanding, showcasing a much more proactive approach that has often been a topic of debate in recent years.

His 77-run effort earned him the Player of the Match award, as CSK struggled to chase down the 184-run target. The victory marked DC’s third consecutive win, with Rahul’s batting and subtle sense of humour both adding charm to the post-match celebrations.
