The upcoming IPL season is crucial for Rahul as he aims to secure a spot in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to follow the IPL. His performance in the tournament will be a key factor in his selection, and he is eager to prove his form and fitness.

“He (Rahul) had consulted top medical experts in London. He returned to India on Sunday and has checked into the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehab. He should get the Return to Play certificate from the NCA soon. He is keen to prove his worth in the IPL as he’s in line for selection in India’s T20 World Cup team as a ‘keeper-bat,” revealed a source to The Times of India.

While KL Rahul is currently not part of the T20I setup, recent developments have opened doors for his comeback. With Ishan Kishan opting out of the Ranji Trophy and losing his central contract, Rahul’s chances have improved. He now has an opportunity to stake his claim in the IPL and make a strong case for inclusion in the national team.

Expressing his determination, Rahul has communicated his interest in batting in the middle-order for Lucknow Super Giants during the IPL. The team management is likely to consider his preference as they plan for the upcoming season.
