KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have returned to Team India’s squad for the final three Tests against England after having recovered from quadriceps and hamstring injuries respectively. Notably, they were absent from the Test in Visakhapatnam due to injuries. However, the BCCI has mentioned that their participation will be subject to clearance from the medical team as well.
Both Jadeja and Rahul bring a lot of experience to the Indian side whereas several big names won’t be available. Among those who continue to miss out is veteran pacer Mohammed Shami, who is yet to return to action after suffering an ankle injury at the end of last year’s World Cup campaign. Along with him, star batter and former India captain Virat Kohli won’t be a part of the series owing to a family emergency.

Meanwhile, middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer will also be unavailable for the series. The 29-year-old batter complained of back stiffness during the second Test and he has now been ruled out of the remainder of the series considering he has already had issues with his back in the last one year as well. As a result, both Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan have managed to retain their spots for the upcoming Test series.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, who was rested from the second Test in Visakhapatnam, has been added to the squad. While Mukesh Kumar has retained his spot, Avesh Khan has been released too and the selection committee has included Akash Deep. Following Jadeja’s return, Saurabh Kumar has been released also. The third Test of the series will start on February 15 in Rajkot.
