The next year’s IPL will see a lot of changes in every team, including Kings XI Punjab. They have already traded their former captain Ravichandran Ashwin in the trade window and looking for his replacement. Ashwin led the franchise in the last two seasons but failed to reach the playoff despite a few promising performances. However, as per the reports of Sportstar, KL Rahul could be their captain for the upcoming season who finished both the seasons as Punjab’s top run-scorer. In 2018, he scored 659 runs and scored 593 runs this year. The report further shared that a final call on captaincy will be taken only after the auction which will be held in Kolkata on December 19.

On the other hand, the franchise will play all their home fixtures at the PCA Stadium in Mohali in the next season. For the past few weeks, there were speculations that they could choose the Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow as its second home base. However, the KXIP CEO, Satish Menon, has confirmed the news the team will play in Mohali only.

“There is absolutely no truth to all that. This time, we are not looking at a second venue,” Menon told the news outlet. “We will play all the seven home games in Mohali this season. That’s where things stand,” he said.

To look for a change in the whole set up, the Kings XI Punjab have also roped in former India player and veteran spinner Anil Kumble as their head coach. Kumble had helped Mumbai Indians win the title earlier as a part of the backroom staff. Along with Anil Kumble, they have also roped in former South Africa star Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach too.
