The Indian cricketer, KL Rahul will be missing the remaining games of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy as he suffered a wrist injury. The BCCI confirmed the development on Tuesday morning, and it became important as well because he suffered the injury just a couple of days before the start of the third Test in Sydney.

In a press release regarding the same, BCCI wrote: “KL Rahul sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets at the MCG during Team India’s practice session on Saturday. The wicketkeeper-batsman will not be available for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he will need about three weeks time to recover completely and regain full strength”.

The release further explained, “He will now return to India and head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further rehabilitation of his injury”.

In the ongoing Test series, there have been a plethora of injury concerns for the team ever since the first game. While Mohammed Shami suffered from a wrist fracture while batting in the second innings, Umesh Yadav suffered a calf injury during the second Test. Rohit Sharma missed the entire limited-overs leg, as well as the first couple of Tests before rejoining the side last week, ahead of the match in Sydney.

The injury to Rahul comes as a major blow, as he was expected to make a comeback in the longest format of the game, following a string of low scores from Hanuma Vihari. In the three innings across two Tests so far, Vihari has amassed just 45 runs.
