Indian opening batsman KL Rahul, who is currently struggling with the bat, has got another great opportunity when he was selected in the playing XI of the ongoing Sydney Test. But again he disappoints us and has been trolled in the social media.

Rahul

The 26-year-old Rahul was dropped from the playing XI during the previous Test at Melbourne for his poor batting form. While the opener Mayank Agarwal made his international debut in that Melbourne Test, Hanuma Vihari was tested as an opening batsman in that Test match.

While Mayank impressed hugely, Vihari also spent a good time in the crease in both the innings of that Melbourne Test match. However, Vihari fell cheaply in both the innings as he scored 8 (66 balls) and 13 (45 balls) respectively.

The Indian team management now tried the Karnataka batting combination for the Sydney Test as both the Karnataka batsmen Mayank and Rahul have been selected as the opening pair of the match.

However, again Rahul has disheartened the entire nation. After the Indian skipper won the toss and decided to bat first, Rahul was dismissed in the second over of the match. After scoring just 9 runs off 6 balls with two boundaries, Rahul was caught at the first slip (Shaun Marsh) as the Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood brought an early breakthrough for his team.

Rahul is running in long poor form with the bat. Before the Sydney Test, the Indian batsman played the first two Tests of the series where he scored 2, 44, 2, and 0 respectively. Since last October, Rahul hasn’t played a 50+ knock in international cricket while he has played only 40+ knock (44 at Adelaide Test) in international cricket.

However, Mayank and Cheteshwar Pujara have guided the visitors to the commanding position at the end of the first day of the Sydney Test. While India is batting on 303/4 at the stumps on day 1, Pujara remained unbeaten on 130 off 250 balls (16 fours) while Mayank scored 77 off 112 balls (7 fours and 2 sixes) before his dismissal.
