Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper, KL Rahul was seen limping off the ground after suffering a hamstring injury against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday, May 1. On the last ball of the second over, Rahul fell near the boundary as his counterpart Faf du Plessis scored a four. Rahul appeared to have tweaked his right hamstring muscle while chasing the ball.

KL Rahul looked in immense pain as the physios were taking care of him. LSG brought a stretcher but Rahul opted to walk off the field with help from physios. In the absence of Rahul, Krunal Pandya is currently leading LSG since he was the designated vice-captain.

Lucknow Super Giants are second in the IPL table, with 10 points from eight games. If LSG registered a win over RCB on May 1, they would take the top spot on the points table. LSG is coming on the back of a thrilling 56-run win over Punjab Kings after registering the second-highest team total (257/5) in the history of the IPL.

KL Rahul, at the toss, said that his team discussed not having a fixed mindset. “Having played here (Lucknow) twice, we know that spin will be used more than pace here. Just want to hold our composure during crunch moments. The only thing we spoke about is to not come with a fixed mindset and we gotta bowl well and restrict them to a low total,” Rahul said.

India will hope Rahul’s injury is not serious, as they are already without Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah for the marquee clash in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. another blow for LSG, the broadcaster also confirmed that left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat had suffered an injury on Sunday. Both Unadkat and Rahul are part of India’s WTC final squad.
