Kohli overtakes Sachin on Twitter 2017 growth

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is gaining popularity with his dynamic batting and stylish looks. His fans are spread all over the world and he is among the most followed celebrity in India.

Recently, Twitter revealed that Kohli’s social media account saw 61 percent growth in this year, which is more than Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sachin Tendulkar.

According to Twitter, Modi’s followers increased by 52 percent which took his 24.6 million followers (till 2016) to 37.5 million as of December 4, 2017. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar’s fan base increased by 56 percent in this year.

Moreover, Bollywood stars like Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan managed 40 percent growth each this year. This is the first time that both Tendulkar and Kohli are featuring in the top-10 list, which was earlier dominated by the film stars.

Twitter also revealed that final match of Champions Trophy 2017 between India and Pakistan broke the record of most tweeted ODI match in the history as it saw 1.8 million tweets.
