Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni received something special from the Indian cricket team on Thursday as skipper Virat Kohli presented him with a platinum bat to mark his 300th ODI appearance at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Team India went into a huddle, and after coach Ravi Shastri handed over debutant Shardul Thakur his cap, the players applauded for the former Indian skipper, who led India to two World Cup title triumphs. Kohli stepped forward to hand over the memento as a pleased MS accepted it and the huddle broke up.

Dhoni will be well aware that all eyes are on him and his future India career. Despite the fact that MS would be hardly affected with his 300th ODI, former cricketers are going berserk as the ‘captain cool’ becomes only sixth Indian cricketer to play these many ODIs.
However, on the occasion legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar took to social media and wished Mahi for reaching the milestone. Sachin, has played 463 ODIs and has amassed 18426 runs, shared a photo of himself with Dhoni and wrote, “Wearing the ODI cap for the 300th time is definitely a special achievement! Hope you have a great game today, #MSDhoni! #Dhoni300.”
While Dhoni joins the elite club that comprises of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mohammed Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh to represent India in 300 or more one-day matches.
