India defeated South Africa by 9 wickets in the second ODI of the ongoing series at Centurion. Having won the toss and electing to field, India bundled out South Africa for a paltry 118 runs in 32.2 overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal registered his maiden ODI five-wicket haul, 8.2-1-22-5, as he ran through the South African middle order.
In the second innings, India chased the target in 20.3 overs with 9 nine wickets in hand. Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 51* (56). His innings was comprised of nine fours.
After gaining a crucial 2-0 lead in the series, Virat Kohli was all at praise for his bowlers. “We thought at the toss the ball was going to do a bit early. Again Bhuvi and Bumrah didn’t give too much away. We knew if we got the two openers, the middle order would be shaky. The pitch was harder than Durban and the spinners used it. We knew we won’t get grass on the pitch because when it’s seaming, it can be anyone’s game. We knew the wickets would be hard and dry and knew our wrist pinners can get it to turn anywhere. They just didn’t give SA any chance. 2-0 is a wonderful position to be in. We want to cash in on that.” Kohli said.
Given the current circumstances, India would be looking at winning this series from this point.
