Prior to the new season of the Indian Premier League, Shreyas Iyer has been named the new captain of Kolkata Knight Riders. The franchise has announced that before the 15th edition of the cash-rich league. However, KKR bought Iyer at the 2022 mega auction for a whopping INR 12.25 Crores after an intense bidding war.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals has released him ahead of the 2022 edition by the franchise as well. Although Gujarat Titans came in late, KKR managed to beat them and secure Iyer’s services as well. Notably, Shreyas Iyer led Delhi to their maiden IPL final in 2020. In 87 IPL matches since his debut in 2015, he has scored 2375 runs at a strike rate of 123.95 as well.
