Allegations of a nexus between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), have seen the Kolkata Police do an official investigation. However, a cricket enthusiast registered the complaint after he failed to buy tickets for the upcoming India vs South Africa match at the Eden Gardens on 5th November as well. The fan did it with the Maidan Thana and the authorities have asked explanation from CAB officials as well.
Moreover, Eden Gardens will host the second semifinal on 16th November. It has been alleged that certain officials of BCCI and CAB have purposefully put aside a lot of tickets meant for the General public making those available to black marketers to earn money as well. And, many people got arrested because of selling tickets on the black market as well. And, the police detained three people on Thursday for that.

Speaking to News18 DC South Priyobrata Roy stated “We have got complaints and we have started an investigation, we have asked CAB to send their representatives and explain this matter.”
“I am a life member cardholder of the Cricket Association of Bengal for the last 30 years,” bemoaned Arindam Kanti Biswas, one of these members said. “Tickets for the India-South Africa game and the World Cup semifinal have been refused to me and numerous other members. We were notified that by October 24th, all members must renew their membership cards, according to a notification published in Anandbazar Patrika by CAB. I don’t read the paper, though. They could have sent us a letter or gotten in touch with us. This isn’t right”.
