Former Indian player Kris Srikkanth ruled out the possibilities of legendary captains Eoin Morgan and Brendon McCullum as possible head coaches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Notably, Morgan has no coaching experience at the highest level, but he led England to their first and only ODI World Cup title. He also led Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020 and 2021, leading them to a runners-up finish in the latter as well. Meanwhile, McCullum was England’s all-format head coach before recently being sacked from Test team head coach as well.

Talking about this, Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, Cheeky Cheeka: “I won’t go for Eoin Morgan for sure. He was a good player and a good captain for England. But as a coach, I won’t accept him as an option. Even for KKR as their captain, he didn’t do anything great. It’ll be best if he just sticks with commentary. Likewise, it’ll be good for CSK if they don’t appoint Brendon McCullum as the head coach. They should say no to both Morgan and McCullum.”

“CSK don’t need anyone from outside when they have Mr.Cricket with him. Michael Hussey should be the automatic head coach. He will be the best choice. But what will MS Dhoni’s place in CSK be going forward? That arrangement has to be fixed first, and only then will everything else fall in place,” again said Srikkanth.

However, he also believes the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) should be willing to let go of two of their key players, Rinku Singh and Harshit Rana, if they want to acquire Hardik Pandya in a potential trade with the Mumbai Indians (MI).

“Rinku Singh is a decent player, nothing extraordinary. Harshit Rana is a good bowler. But if Hardik is willing to join KKR, I would give up both of them. They also have to rebuild their side. Rinku Singh won’t be a great loss for them. Harshit Rana might be a huge loss for them. But Harshit also didn’t have a great IPL last year. He was good only the year before that,” he added.

“MI shouldn’t go for it. Why will they go for Axar Patel and say a Prithvi Shaw or someone? There is no scope with that. Also, I won’t trade for Head if I were MI as he doesn’t fit with MI,” Kris Srikkanth concluded.
