Former BCCI chief selector Kris Srikkanth has slammed at the umpiring howlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. On Tuesday (April 19), during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Josh Hazlewood bowled a wide ball as it was way outside the tramline but the stand-in umpire didn’t signal it.
While this left everyone shocked, on-strike batter Marcus Stoinis was also frustrated with the decision as this incident happened in the penultimate over of the match as well. It proved costly as the Aussie all-rounder got out off the very next delivery and RCB won with ease. And, Kris Srikkanth didn’t stop criticizing the umpires as he asked the officials to wake up.

“What is happening with the umpiring @IPL , it’s quite pathetic and small bad decisions lead to big outcomes! Wake up and put some people who actually can be a ref! #RCBvsLSG,” tweeted the former Indian opener.

However, this was not the first time as during a game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals, opener Ajinkya Rahane was wrongly adjudged out in the first two deliveries of the innings but he took the review that saved him. In another match, Virat Kohli was controversially adjudged LBW as well. Hence, Kris Srikkanth was not impressed with these blunders and he expressed the same in his tweet.

Meanwhile, RCB registered an 18-run victory in the game as LSG failed to chase down the total of 182 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. Captain Faf du Plessis was smashed a 64-ball 96 despite a top-order collapse. He was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his swashbuckling knock. Pacer Josh Hazlewood stepped up with the ball as he claimed a four-wicket haul as well.
