Kris Srikkanth has launched a sharp critique of Hemang Badani amid the Delhi Capitals’ inconsistent run in IPL 2026, reigniting a debate that traces back to Badani’s earlier comments on coaching influence in the league. The controversy stems from Badani’s previous remarks, where he questioned the credentials of Stephen Fleming, suggesting that Chennai Super Kings’ success was largely driven by MS Dhoni rather than their head coach.

“If Fleming is such a big coach, why hasn’t he won anywhere else apart from the IPL? CSK are winning because of Dhoni,” Hemang Badani had said in an earlier interview.
However, with the Delhi Capitals now struggling for consistency, Srikkanth believes those comments have come back to haunt Badani. Following a heavy nine-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru — where DC were bowled out for just 75 — the former India opener did not hold back.

“Delhi Capitals are already struggling to figure things out. And in the midst of all this, Hemang Badani ran his mouth about Stephen Fleming,” Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel. “Hemang, first take care of your business and then talk about others.”

Srikkanth went a step further, questioning Badani’s own achievements as a coach and suggesting that focus should remain on improving team performance rather than commenting on others. “Why did you need to say that Fleming only won because of Dhoni? Have you achieved anything yet?” he added.

Badani, who took over as Delhi Capitals head coach ahead of IPL 2025, had guided the team to a fifth-place finish in his debut season. However, the ongoing campaign has been far from smooth. Under Axar Patel’s leadership, DC currently sit in the lower half of the points table, struggling to build momentum.
With crucial matches ahead, including a fixture against Rajasthan Royals, the pressure is mounting on the Capitals to respond both on and off the field.
