The Indian team has used 11 fast bowlers ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, and trials are still being held for the final roster for the tournament in Australia in 2022. Few were added to the roster for recognizing their outstanding performance in the 2021 IPL, while two new names were added following the 2022 season.
In addition, one of the most recent two fast bowlers to be added to the list of possibilities has totally pleased former chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who has made a bold prediction and asked current chief selector Chetan Sharma to choose Arshdeep Singh for the T20 World Cup.
Arshdeep Singh, who dazzled veterans and specialists of the game with his ability to bowl consistent yorkers and his ice-cool attitude in the last overs of the IPL 2022, was highly praised by Srikkanth. But the southpaw pacer was only able to make his T20I series debut against England last month. He has since played four T20I innings for India and taken six wickets at just 6.51 per innings.
In the last overs, where Arshdeep Sigh conceded at just 6.35 runs per over and a boundary virtually every 13 balls, five of those wickets were taken. The southpaw seamer has the lowest economy rate among Indian bowlers who have pitched at least five overs in the dying stages since the last T20 World Cup.
Before the third T20I match between India and West Indies began, Krishnamachari Srikkanth made a bold prediction about the kid, claiming that he will top the T20I charts in the future and pleading with Chetan Sharma to choose the bowler for the T20 World Cup.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth said, “He will be the future world no.1 in T20Is. He is simply outstanding. Arshdeep Singh! Make a note of it. He will be in the T20 World Cup team. Come on Chetu, please take his name also.”
Arshdeep Singh will have tough competition from Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Deepak Chahar, and Mohammed Shami as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are guaranteed to play in the World Cup.
