Krunal Pandya Comes Forward To Help Jacob Martin In Special Way

The former Indian cricketer Jacob Martin is currently on life support while his family has urged to help raise funds for his treatment. Like some other cricket members, the Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya has come forward to help the former cricketer.

On December 28, the 46-year-old former Indian and Baroda cricketer Jacob Martin met with a serious road accident that causes injuries to his lungs and liver and currently he is on a ventilator. His family has urged to the cricket families to help raise funds for his treatment.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) have already come up to help the family. While the BCA has contributed INR 3 lakh, the BCCI has already sanctioned INR 5 lakh.

Also, the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricketer and present Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, the former Indian pacer Munaf Patel, the Indian all-rounders Irfan and Yusuf Pathan have also assured to help raise funds.

Now, the Baroda all-rounder and the international cricketer, Krunal Pandya has come forward to help the former Baroda cricketer and coach Martin. He has presented a blank cheque and requested to fill up any amount, but nothing less than Rs 1 lakh.

According to The Telegraph, Krunal told the former BCCI and BCA secretary Sanjay Patel, who has taken the responsibility to arrange the funds, “Sir, please fill up whatever is needed, but nothing less than Rs 1 lakh.”

The right-handed batsman Jacob Martin made his international cricket debut in 1999 during an ODI match against West Indies (at Toronto on 11 September 1999) while his final ODI was on 17 October 2001against Kenya at Port Elizabeth.

In his international career, Martin played only 10 ODIs where he scored 158 runs with an average of 22.57. His best ODI knock was 39 runs against Pakistan at Perth on 28 January 2000.

From 1991 to 2009, Martin played 138 first-class games, 101 List A matches and two T20s where he scored 9,192 runs (average 46.65), 2,948 runs (average 39.30) and 14 runs (average 7.00) respectively. Martin also took 19 wickets (10 in first-class cricket and 9 in List A matches) in his career.

Under his captaincy, Baroda won the 2000/01 Ranji Trophy and finished as the runners-up in 2001/02 Ranji Trophy.
