The Indian team flew to the UK on June 2 and they have reached the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, but the backup wicket-keeper batsman, KS Bharat hasn’t traveled with the team. The Indian team will be locking horns with Kane Williamson & Co at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton on June 18. It will be interesting to see how these two teams adapt to the conditions for the WTC final. However, the Kiwis have been playing a couple of Tests against England. The first Test is going on at The Lord’s.

On the other hand, Team India will be commencing their training session after finishing their mandatory quarantine period of three days in the UK. Kiwis slightly have an edge over India since they will be playing two-match Test series in England before the final. While the Indian team has left no stone unturned for the final, unexpected news came from the team announcement.

Hardik Pandya, Prithvi Shaw, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were not included in the squad. The Indian team management planned to keep few cricketers in backup for the main event. The future is uncertain and in case if players pick up an injury, then a quick replacement can be done.

Meanwhile, KS Bharat was one such wicketkeeper who was named in the reserved list. The main squad featured as many as three wicketkeepers. They are none other than Rishabh Pant, Wriddhiman Saha, and KL Rahul. The development comes after SRH wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for coronavirus and he was uncertain to reach the UK.

Meanwhile, Saha has recovered in time which means that KS Bharat is no longer with the squad. In fact, Bharat didn’t travel to the UK. As per Samayam.com, “Wriddhiman Saha has fully recovered. KS Bharat has been dropped from the team because doctors have assured Saha that he is not likely to have any health problems due to corona.”

However, India will go ahead with Rishabh Pant as their preliminary wicketkeeper considering his current form.
