In a tense moment during the ongoing clash between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, Avesh Khan expressed frustration following a near-miss catch by Kuldeep Sen, which nearly cost him a wicket.
The incident unfolded in Avesh Khan’s very first over. With the fourth over of the PBKS innings, Khan made an immediate impact by claiming a wicket, providing RR with a crucial breakthrough.

Trouble arose on the fourth ball when Atharva Taide top-edged Khan’s short delivery, sending the ball behind the stumps. Positioned at short third-man, Kuldeep Sen opted to go for the catch. However, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson also moved in for the catch without communication.
This resulted in a minor collision between Kuldeep and Samson. Fortunately, Kuldeep managed to hold onto the ball, but Khan was visibly displeased with the miscommunication, expressing his frustration animatedly towards Kuldeep.

Despite the tense moment, Avesh Khan’s performance in IPL 2024 has been less than stellar. The right-arm pacer has struggled to make an impact, failing to take more than a wicket in any game so far. Across five matches, he has only managed to secure three wickets and has grappled with maintaining a decent economy rate, conceding 46 and 48 runs in his last two outings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans, respectively.
