Kuldeep Yadav produced a moment of sheer magic on Sunday, April 13, during the IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, dismissing a well-set Ryan Rickelton with an absolute ripper. Rickelton, who had been in fluent touch throughout the season, looked poised for yet another impactful innings.

He got off to a fiery start, smashing Mitchell Starc for two crisp boundaries in the opening over and following it up with a six off Mukesh Kumar in the next. He continued to dominate Starc in the third over, finding the fence once again, and seemed in complete control as he raced to 40 off just 23 balls.

With Rickelton cruising, DC skipper Axar Patel turned to his trump card, Kuldeep Yadav, in the eighth over. The wrist-spinner didn’t disappoint. After conceding just two runs off his first three deliveries, Kuldeep delivered a peach of a googly that completely bamboozled Rickelton. Expecting the ball to turn away, the MI opener went for a cut shot, but the ball jagged back in sharply, sneaking past the bat and crashing into middle stump. It was a textbook dismissal, and Kuldeep’s celebration said it all — Delhi had broken a vital partnership.

Rickelton walked back for a well-made 41 off 25 deliveries, laced with five boundaries and two sixes, leaving MI at a delicate juncture in their chase.
At the time of the breakthrough, Mumbai were on 135/2 in the 14th over, with Suryakumar Yadav batting confidently on 40 and Tilak Varma providing solid support on 30. Earlier in the innings, MI’s woes at the top continued as Rohit Sharma once again failed to capitalize on a start, falling for 18 to Vipraj Nigam.

With just one win in five matches, Mumbai are in desperate need of victories to stay in the playoff race. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have been clinical this season and will look to extend their perfect record and tighten their grip on the top of the table.
