India’s dependable spinner Kuldeep Yadav has failed to make things fall in place now, which saw him losing his place in the playing XI as well. He wasn’t even considered for the recently-concluded two-match Test series against New Zealand, despite the head coach Ravi Shastri tagging him as the first-preferred choice for the Indian team in overseas conditions as well.
Only a year ago, he was India’s first-choice spin bowling option in overseas conditions, but a sudden bad patch in form led to him losing his spot too. Kuldeep’s last T20 match appearance came earlier this year against Sri Lanka. However, he was given a chance to play in just one of the three ODIs in the New Zealand series in which India had suffered a humiliating 0-3 whitewash.
While speaking about this, Kuldeep said that Ravi Shastri has helped him throughout his career – to do well and also added that Shastri always supported him whenever he played for the Indian team.

“(Coach) Ravi bhai backs me a lot. He is open to everything. Whatever cricket I played till date, he backed me a lot. It was a team decision keeping in mind the conditions,” Kuldeep said in a statement.
However, Kuldeep Yadav is looking forward to sealing his place in India’s T20 World Cup team with a great IPL season. He wants to do good for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), to be in the team which will compete in Australia during the mega event.
“I don’t feel anything went wrong. It depends on the combination. In New Zealand the wickets were quite different, you might have seen that there were no spin tracks in Tests. Moreover, it was not a long Test series as well,” Kuldeep Yadav said as quoted by Pune Mirror.
The T20 World Cup will take place in Australia from October 18 to November 15.
