The 23-year old left-arm wrist spinner who has become India’s most lethal weapon in recent times is winning hearts for his domestic team also. Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant effort of 4/20 against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens yesterday. After having a lean season, he finally came good with the ball when his team needed him the most. Still, that’s not the only reason for Kolkata to be proud of him.

Born and brought up in Uttar Pradesh, the Hindi dominated state, the Bengali language is quite foreign for Kuldeep Yadav. However, the leg-spinner was trying his best to speak in Bengali and he even tried singing a Bengali song.

In a short and sweet interview conducted by Anneysha Thakker, a presenter associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise, Kuldeep was mindful of what the anchor spoke in Bengali. The entire conversation was in Bengali and Kuldeep didn’t seem to struggle even for once. When asked who his favorite poet is, Kuldeep replied with ‘Robi Thakur’ (Rabindranath Tagore).

Then on request, Kuldeep also tried his voice at singing a popular Bengali song by the name of ‘Baranday Roddur’ sung by Bhoomi, a popular urban folk music group in Kolkata. She ended the interview by teaching Kuldeep how to greet in Bengali.
