Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav made an emotional visit to the Melbourne Cricket Ground while on a quick family trip, and he said the most memorable moment was when he sat alongside the statue of his idol, the great Shane Warne, right outside the stadium. As part of the Melbourne visit, Kuldeep was also taken around the CA headquarters.
He remembered that special moment and Kuldeep shared his close bond with the late spinner: “Shane Warne was my idol, and I had a very strong connection with him. I still get emotional when I think about Warnie—it feels like I’ve lost someone from my family.” Everyone knows how much Kuldeep was influenced by Warne, and this visit was an emotional reminder of just how much the Australian great had left an imprint on cricketers across the globe.

He was also given a warm welcome by Cricket Australia’s CEO, Nick Hockley, through an online interaction. Kuldeep was briefed on the upcoming Australian cricket season, which is going to be quite exciting since both India and Pakistan are going to tour Australia this calendar year.

He seemed quite elated as he had to talk about his visit: “It’s fantastic to be here in Cricket Australia’s headquarters and the iconic MCG. “Looking forward to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and a fabulous cricketing contest between Australia and India is expected this summer.” He further revealed a glimpse of admiration for the ever-supporting Indian cricket fans worldwide. “Indian cricket fans support the team all around the world and will turn in massive numbers for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, especially for the Boxing Day Test.”

Kuldeep’s visit comes when he is going through a purple patch in his career. He played a leading role in India’s win in the T20 World Cup 2024, taking 10 wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 6.95. Though he was rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka, he made a magnificent comeback into the ODI series, where he bagged four wickets for 102 runs in 30 overs.
