Kumar Sangakkara Believes Sourav Ganguly Will Do Great As BCCI President

Sourav Ganguly has taken the charge of BCCI president on October 23 and another former cricketer expressed his happiness and he is none other than Kumar Sangakkara, who applauded the move by the BCCI to elect Sourav Ganguly as their president. Ganguly was present at the Annual General Body Meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday. He became the 39th president of BCCI and also the second captain of India to hold the post. The former captain has a nine-month tenure after he was being elected unopposed.

Kumar Sangakkara, the newly-appointed president of the Marylebone Cricket Club, has recently said he is looking forward to seeing the tenure of Sourav Ganguly as the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Sangakkara said he is confident that Ganguly will have a great impact on world cricket.

“Dada [Ganguly] is in a much more influential position than I am. But I have really enjoyed my conversations with him. He has been part of the world cricket committee. He has a global view on world cricket, not just Indian cricket. That’s really important,” Kumar Sangakkara said ESPNCricinfo.

“He is a great supporter of cricket in the Olympics, he is a great supporter of spreading the game globally. So I am sure he will do a huge amount of work. He has got a very sharp and tactical brain. I mean his experience in playing the game and captaining India is immense. So I am sure he will do a wonderful job. His influence at the ICC, if he brings that in a positive and usual manner with which he looks at the game, I am sure there will be a huge impact,” he added.
