Indian skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck against Sri Lanka in their ICC Champions Trophy 2017 match at The Oval on Thursday. In India’s tournament opener against the arch-rivals Pakistan, Kohli smashed the Pakistani bowlers all over the park in slog overs but failed to score a run on Thursday.

For Kohli, it was his 11th duck in ODIs, and first in 46 innings. Last time Kohli got out troubling the scorers in an ODI match was against England in August 2014 at Cardiff.

Indian head coach Anil Kumble will be continuing his job for a few days more, at least until the West Indies tour, with the Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC) asking the BCCI for more time to resolve the issue.

A reliable TOI source said, “The CAC has bought some time for Kumble and ensured he is not ignominiously removed after India’s run in the Champions Trophy. He will travel with the team to West Indies. It’s a short tour so there shouldn’t be any problems. Kohli is basically being asked to ‘adjust’ for a while more.”

TOI had on Thursday reported that it would be hard for the CAC, which comprises of India stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, to remove Kumble at a short notice.

On Thursday night, the CAC met BCCI CEO Rahul Johri at a city hotel and pondered on the matter for a bit more than two hours. Late in the night, they announced their decision to the board: give us more time to think over the issue. It is also been heard that the members of the CAC have also had separate discussions with Kumble and Kohli.

The CAC’s delaying of the acts has guaranteed a swift peace in the captain-coach saga which has endangered to bug India’s Champions Trophy campaign. The real concern, of how a team can carry on with the rift between skipper and coach, is still unanswered for the moment.

Here are some cursing tweets for Virat and team India:
