During the third ODI of the Standard Bank International One-Day Series, Chris Evans and Anil Kumble were involved in a battle where the right-hand batsman tonked the leg-spinner for two sixes in the final over of the Zimbabwean innings. In what was a perfect revenge act, Kumble bowled him on the following delivery.
Alistair Campbell, the then Zimbabwean captain, had won the toss and elected to bat. He top-scored with 61 (70) with the help of three fours and a six as Zimbabwe scored 236-8 in 50 overs. Evans ended up scoring 40 (32) with the help of two fours and three sixes.
With bowling figures of 10-1-49-3, Venkatesh Prasad was the pick of the Indian bowlers. Anil Kumble ended up with figures of 10-0-58-2.
The Evans-Kumble battle was not the only interesting thing in the match. The contest went down to the wire and ended up being in a tie. India were all out on 236 with a ball to go. Watch the full video:
