The start of play on teh fourth day of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand has been delayed due to persistent rain showers at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Currently, the Kiwis are at 101/2 with skipper Kane Williamson and senior batsman Ross Taylor on the crease.
Earlier on Day 3, the Indian team got bundled out for 217 runs after the heroics of pacer Kyle Jamieson. To kill time, the lanky New Zealand all-rounder, Kyle Jamieson was seen playing table tennis. Tweeting about the same, Blackcaps had written: “Wet weather has returned to the Hampshire Bowl so it’s table tennis for now.”

Giving the weather update, BCCI has also tweeted, “It continues to drizzle and we have to state the obvious. Start of play on Day 4 has been delayed.”

Earlier, Devon Conway, Tom Latham, and Kane Williamson managed to frustrate the Indian bowling line-up and as a result, New Zealand came out on top at teh end of Day 3 of the ongoing final on Sunday.

At stumps, New Zealand’s score read 101/2 with Williamson (12*) and Ross Taylor (0*) unbeaten at the crease with Conway and Latham back to the pavilion. The Kiwis still trail India by 116 runs. In the first innings, India was bundled out for 217 as Kyle Jamieson was the wrecker in chief as he bagged five wickets.
Ajinkya Rahane was the highest run-getter for the Indian team as he played a knock of 49 runs. Shubman Gill managed to score 28 runs in the first innings while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma scored 44 and 34 respectively.

The first day of the ongoing final was abandoned due to rain while the second day witnessed early stumps being called due to bad light. A call on using the Reserve Day will be taken on the fifth afternoon.
