Lasith Malinga, the esteemed bowling coach of the Mumbai Indians (MI), shared his insights into the team’s preparations for the highly anticipated 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). In particular, Malinga expressed his optimism regarding the return of key players Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, highlighting their potential impact on MI’s campaign this season.
Jasprit Bumrah, the talented Indian fast bowler, missed IPL 2023 due to back surgery, while Pandya joined MI through a significant trade from the Gujarat Titans and has been entrusted with the captaincy for the upcoming season.
Speaking to reporters after the MI junior inter-school tournament, Lasith Malinga stressed the invaluable experience that Bumrah and Pandya bring to the team. He commended their current form and anticipated their role as mentors for the younger bowlers within the MI squad.

“We can’t underestimate the value of experience. Both Bumrah and Pandya are in exceptional form. Bumrah has showcased his skills in Test cricket recently, and they both possess a wealth of knowledge and experience in T20 cricket. Their insights will be invaluable for our younger players,” Lasith Malinga remarked, as quoted by India Today.
