Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Shivam Dube finally found his rhythm with the bat, delivering a powerful counterattack against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 clash at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. Coming into the match on the back of a string of low scores, Dube was under pressure to perform—and he certainly rose to the occasion.

Brought in as an impact player, Dube entered the crease at a critical juncture after CSK lost a couple of early wickets during their daunting 220-run chase. With the scoreboard reading 75/3 in the powerplay and the top-order having squandered another opportunity, Dube knew the onus was on him to anchor the innings while keeping the required run rate in check. From the outset, he looked determined.

The left-hander went after the bowling with intent, targeting the spinners and medium pacers alike, clearing the boundary multiple times with his trademark muscle and timing. His brutal assault rekindled hope for Chennai fans and put Punjab Kings under pressure. With every towering six, the crowd roared louder, believing that Dube could single-handedly turn the game in CSK’s favor.

However, just when it looked like he would take the game deep, New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson produced a moment of brilliance. Slipping in a deceptive knuckleball at 127 kph, Ferguson outfoxed Dube, who went for an ambitious swipe across the line far too early. The ball evaded the bat and cannoned into the top of middle stump, cutting short what was shaping up to be a match-winning knock.

Although the all-rounder couldn’t see his team through, his innings was a statement—one of resilience, power, and intent, reminding everyone of the damage he can do when he gets going.
