Captain of Gujarat Lions, Suresh Raina, won respect from one and all after his gesture following the dismissal of Rishabh Pant. Pant, who scored his third IPL half-century today, ended up scoring 97 (43) with the help of six fours and nine sixes.
Pant was disappointed on having to miss his maiden IPL century. The sadness was visible on his face and it seemed as if the teenager did not want to walk himself out of the ground.
In what was a very appreciative signal, Raina came forward and congratulated Pant, for he and Sanju Samson had made a mockery of a target of 209. Raina might have lost the match but will certainly earn handsome points for the Fairplay award.
Daredevils completed the chase with seven wickets and 15 balls to spare. It was the second-highest successful chase in the IPL.
Earlier, Gujarat Lions had scored 208-7 in 20 overs. Raina (77) and Dinesh Karthik (65) were the major contributors. Watch the full video of Pant’s dismissal:
